Hello, we're Dave and Marian

We found The Woodlands in 2019 and fell for the peace of it: a mid-century bungalow perched at the top of Ironbridge Gorge, with a nature reserve two minutes up the lane.

We've poured our hearts into the renovation, and we'd rather be honest: some exterior landscaping is still in progress. Inside, though, the house is exactly as we want it: calm, warm, and ready for you. Bob and Felix, our two cats, are very much part of the team and have the run of their home.

Walkers and cyclists are especially welcome, and if you're at the Telford International Centre for an event, we'll happily do you an early takeaway breakfast.

Three rooms, named for the place

Each has its own ensuite shower, underfloor heating, and a telly you can log into Netflix on. Two open onto the garden through patio doors; The Severn looks over the courtyard. The garden pair are twins, so we place you in whichever fits your stay best.

The peace up here is why we bought it, and most evenings a fox still comes through the garden.

Breakfast is through those doors

Across the patio and in through the bi-fold doors, to the room where breakfast is served.

Dave flew the drone in himself on a still February day. Ten seconds, and you'll know exactly where you're having breakfast.

The lawn seen from the curved stone terrace: tall evergreen trees, a fire pit with chairs beside it, a post-and-rail fence and wooded hills on the horizon
The silver birch on the lawn, a round metal bench built around its trunk and its branches hanging low
A paperback and a glass of white wine on the round bench under the silver birch

The garden, and the reading tree

There's a silver birch on the lawn we call the reading tree. It does exactly what you'd hope.

The Gorge and The Bridge both open through patio doors straight onto the garden. Beyond that it's lawn, borders Dave fusses over, an outdoor fireplace for cool evenings, and countryside as far as you can see. Kick your boots off, pour something, and stay put.
